Keyboard key retainer clip in 2 pieces

Hi,

I own a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 D206 and my E key has broken, and the retainer clip is in 2 seperate pieces now. I want to fix the key back into place but now that the retainer clip is in 2 seperate pieces I don't know what to do. Please help

We do not sell keyboard clips or key covers. You have to replace the entire keyboard.

How to find your Laptop keyboard part number

* Go here
* Enter your private Service Tag
* Click Search
* Under Quick links, click "View product specs"
* Look for keyboard
* Click the down arrow
* Do a Google search for the Dell 5 digit part number

Might be too late but you don't have to buy a new part. I was able to fix mine. The little prongs (sticking out in the middle) on each side of the smaller piece go inside the bigger one. The bigger piece has 2 holes for those to go into act as a swivel (aka the resistance when you press down). It will take some patience. Once you get those 2 pieces back together follow the directions below to get the key back in place.

Putting it back in place:

1. Make sure that the bigger piece with the side that kinda dips in is facing up to align with the smaller piece.

2. Make sure when you insert the smaller piece it will rest with the bottom UNDERNEATH the big one and the top part (of the smaller piece) OVER the bigger piece. (again this is to ensure that you have that bounce back when you press down)

3. Once those 2 pieces are together you will line them up within the metal prongs on the keyboard. (they should slide/lock in)

4. Finally align and press the key into the space and you should here a little click. (you might have to move it around a little or push in the bottom half then push the top half in)

Sorry I didn't have this problem sooner to help you lol. But I hope its able to help someone in the future.
