IR camera not working

Hello, I have the Inspiron 5378 laptop with the IR camera, however after sending it to support and getting the motherboard changed, Windows Hello does not work (trying to set it up results in nothing happening and error sounds).

Any possible fix to this?

Thanks!

My IR Camera, and Windows Hello, also some time stopped working over the past few days. Windows device manager showed only a generic webcam under imaging systems.

I tried Dell's suggestion above, downloaded the driver and installed, but the installation failed. I then tried Dell Support Assistant, but it failed to install too. I tried updating on-line, removing and re-adding the camera, restarting, etc, etc but all attempts to get the IR camera installed again failed.

I did get both the camera and windows hello working by doing the following:

* download the driver per Dell instructions above - save in downloads or documents or wherever you wish

* run the .exe - but do not choose to install, choose to extract the driver to a sub-folder instead

* go to the sub folder - do not run 'setup.exe' - it will fail again

* go to the folder 'install' then run the program 'setup.exe'

Looks like someone messed up the setup program and, by running the setup from the 'install' folder instead, it will successfully install - or it did for me anyway

Problem solved - that'll be 20 bucks - your invoice is in the mail...

We also had this problem and the camera wasn't even showing up in the Device Manager. Turned out that it was disabled in the BIOS. Once enabled everything worked fine.

After installing IR camera driver, type Settings onto {Cortana] search box, select Accounts, Sign-in-options. You should see now, the IR camera or fingerprint setup option under Windows Hello.
