Inspiron 5515 Touchpad Intermittent working

When not working (90% of time) the cursor moves across the screen but no clicks have any effect. Sometimes the movement highlights some of the screen. The problem may arise after I have used right hand scroll on a browser. Tech support gave loads of instructions (BIOS, windows updates, hardware checks) but problem remains. 3 hours and counting on Whatsapp chat. After not working it will start working and stop again.

The touchpad was faulty. A simple test Dell could have added was asking if it physically and audibly clicked. Replaced under warranty

Check Mouse Settings in Control Panel, mouse properties, pointer options. Turn off Jump to settings and change or adjust the other Mouse settings.  Adding a usb mouse can check if the touchpad is not working right.

Turn the computer back on and retest the touchpad buttons. Note: Do not touch the touchpad until the computer is booted, as it goes through a calibration process during booting. Ensure that the touchpad is turned on. For more information, see Dell Knowledge Base article How to Disable or Enable the Notebook Touchpad.

Thanks. I've run loads of tests and wauting for Dell to authorise repair. At least tests found hdmi doesn't work either and so get that fixed too.
