Inspiron 16 7620 2-in-1, speakers quieter and louder

Inspiron 16 7620 2-in-1

I am having an issue with the laptop speakers getting quieter and louder while playing music (sounds normal one minute and then like it's playing from inside a tin can the next). I've tried three different online music providers. All with the same problem so it's not a website issue. I tried plugging headphones and they sounded just fine, no issues with the sound on those. It would seem that I'm having an issue with the built-in speakers on the laptop specifically. Any advice?

Did you happen to update your Windows 11? I have the same machine. I updated the Windows 11 and now my headphone jack does not switch when I plug in the headphones. If the headphones are plugged in, I cannot change the volume. It just plays out the speakers at whatever volume it was set at prior to plugging in the headphones. I'm wondering if your issue is just another version of mine? I have opened a service ticket.

I did driver updates after scanning my machine at the support page.  After that, the scan would show me I was fully updated.  However, when I did a "chat" it said I had 1 update.  I checked at the Driver and Update page, Manually Find and there was a "Critical" update for Realtek that I had missed.  Installing this update fixed my problem.

So, make sure you have all the driver updates as suggested under Manually Find.
