How to turn Num Lock key permanently on with Inspiron 5570

Inspiron 5570

Inspiron 5570

Hello everyone,

How to turn Num Lock key permanently on so when I click on Num Lock key the key still turned on. I saw the following discussion: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/turn-num-lock-permanently-on/202dc164-ec19-4ab1-bd65-d995590c94db and I applied method 2 which is about registry method but that didn't work with me.

Is there any way to do that by BIOS or any other way to make Num Lock key permanently on?

Yes, it's possible to turn on Num Lock key permanently using the BIOS. Here are the steps:

  1. Restart your computer and access the BIOS settings by pressing the key that appears on your screen during boot-up. The key may vary depending on your computer manufacturer, but it is typically F2, F10, or Delete.

  2. Once you're in the BIOS settings, look for the "Advanced" or "Keyboard" section.

  3. Within that section, look for an option called "Num Lock State," "NumLock" or "Boot-Up NumLock Status".

  4. Change the value of this option to "On" or "Enabled," then save your changes and exit the BIOS settings.

  5. After exiting the BIOS settings, your Num Lock key should be permanently on.

Note that the BIOS settings may vary depending on your computer manufacturer and model, so the exact steps may be slightly different. If you're unsure of the correct settings, you can refer to your computer's user manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Dell recommended F2 to access the BIOS. This did not work until I turned off my wireless keyboard and plugged in an old Logitech - then F2 gave me access to the BIOS.
