Hinge break Inspiron 15 3000
Has anyone else had a problem with the hinges on opening and closing Inspiron 15 3000 or similar model causing them to break because the hinge was in a bind ?
I bought this model less than two months ago and do not take it anywhere and just opening and closing caused the hinge to break causing plastic around screen to start coming off , I haven't dropped moved or done anything except open and close. I am not using computer because I don't want to damage anymore by opening and closing. Now they say there is nothing they can do but charge me to fix. .
If I took to a lot of meetings or moved it around a lot I could possibly see an issue. Just would like to know if anyone else is having issues with this design ?
This is my 3rd Dell Computer and this is the first I have ever had issues with.

Update = After completing troubleshooting, a DELL-Cares agent setup service. Note, there is currently a delay due to a backlog of the LCD assembly from the manufacturer.

Yes! I have the same problem with the corner near the hinge pulling away from the screen just from opening and closing the lid. I never dropped the Inspiron 15 3000 or dropped anything on it. Please update any solution when you can. Thank you for posting

Update: Dell immediately reached out to me via PM to follow up on this issue. I sent in pictures along with my service tag. I will continue to post updates on my progress

I have the exact same problem with a Inspiron 15 3000 I bought in November 21. Were you able to get help?

I am having the exact same issue. I bought my laptop three months ago. I did not drop it or change anything. Realized something was off when I opened it. Both hinges were opening. I was able to snap one back closed. The other one I could not. Now the plastic is pulling on the screen. I am afraid to damage the laptop which I need to work. I also don't want to leave it open all the time. Could you please tell me how you fixed it.

This happened to me today, I have had the laptop since mid-December so it's still fairly new. Annoying, just before the Easter weekend

I had the same problem with same model of Dell, about three months old.
Please let me know if you have solution. In my case, computer lid won't open without fear of pulling off frame on one side of screen.

Same thing happened here. Purchased in December and now the hinge broke and cover won't close without further damage. I was going to purchase a replacement cover and reinstall in since they said it's past 30 days and nothing but charging me to fix it.

Same problem: I bought the laptop during November sales, never dropped it, never even put it in a bag, but the casing began to crack around the right hinge from normal opening and closing after two months, at which point I didn't want to deal with customer service, so I just left it open, but today the casing around the left hinge started coming loose just from slightly adjusting the angle to which it was left open.

I have the same problem with my laptop. I bought it last October. I haven't dropped or moved it ..This is my 4th Dell laptop and this is the 1st time ,I am facing such issue. Normally their quality is very good, that is why I bought it. But this time I am really disappointed. Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

I've got this problem, it broke within 3 months. I don't see how repairing the hinge with the same cheap materials is going to help. It will just break again & be out of warranty. Wish I'd stuck to HP.

Exact same problem. Bought the Inspiron 15 3000 in Nov 2021 for my daughter and while the hinges always felt a bit stiff, it seemed to work well. Then a few days ago, while opening the laptop, we noticed that the bottom left corner of the casing around the screen had cracked a bit, and as we tried to open up the laptop it was clear that the hinge wasn't moving as it should. Holding onto it with the screen slightly open allowed me to further open up the laptop (essentially forcing the hinge to move without causing further damage). But the hinge problem clearly caused the casing to crack which is a real issue. And from the sound of it this is not an isolated problem.
How best to proceed? Contact DELL support and work through warranty claim? How have others been able to address this problem?

Emailed Customer support who told me to contact Technical support to which I have done this morning via WhatsApp I’ve sent photos and a video to them to get a reply of we shall look into it and get back to You
