Can not connect to TV via HDMI

Inspiron 7573  /  Windows 10

I can't get the HDMI connection from my laptop to my TV to work.  I've connected them with a cable that I know works.  I click F8 then "duplicate" but nothing happens.  "Duplicate" gets highlighted but that's it.

I've gone into display and advanced display settings and nothing recognizes the TV/connection/2nd display.

What am I missing?

Is the TV set to the correct input?  Some TVs don't get detected by PCs until the TV is actually switched to the input the PC is connected to.  Have you tried another input on the TV, or at least a "known good" input on the TV if you've already made sure to use a known good cable?

Are your GPU drivers up to date?  Does Intel Graphics Control Panel (or Graphics Command Center, depending on your system and driver release) show the TV even if Windows Display Settings doesn't?

Hi,

We are sorry that the link did not publish the last time. We were referring to the following link-

Please send us a picture or a video showing what options do you get in the settings.

You might want to try using another HDMI cable to connect the laptop to the TV or a different external monitor.

Perhaps try another HDMI cable in addition to another HDMI port on your TV. HDMI cables (and ports) in my experience can be finicky, and if the contacts are dirty or oxidized, a poor or no connection will result. I just recently replaced a HDMI cable between my TV and DVR due to random disconnects. The new one (actually used) fixed the problem.

That link is not helpful.  I don't get any options for a second display.

Thanks, but I used two cables and two ports.

Thanks.  Yes, it's in a working port.  Tries more than one and more than one cable.  All drivers are up to date.  I just installed Intel Graphics Control Panel  and it does not detect the TV.
