Can I use a Dell Dock WD19S USB-C 180W Power Delivery with a Dell Inspiron 17 1700 7737 Laptop

Hi

We have a setup that uses the Dell Dock WD19S to connect a work laptop to dual monitors / keyboard / mouse etc. via a USB-C connection.

We also have an older Dell Inspiron 17 1700 7737 (win 10) Laptop that we wanted to see if we could use with the Dock BUT the older laptop does NOT have a USB-C port.

I bought a simple USB-C (female) to regular USB adaptor, to see if this would make the connection BUT although the laptop connects with the mouse and keyboard on the dock, the monitors are not connecting up.

Also I notice that the small "power light" on the top of the USB_C cable does not light up like it does when plugged into the USB-C on the newer laptop.

Any suggestions as to how we could MacGyver the older laptop the dock please??!

Many thanks in advance

No -- that notebook has no video out over USB.  You can use the dock as you see (keyboard and mouse, a USB hub) but the only video output on the notebook itself is over HDMI.
