SupportAssist Windows 11

Inspiron 7700 AIO

Inspiron 7700 AIO

Is there a way to install SupportAssist v3.10.4.0? I can't seem to find a valid site. I can't even find any way to check for updates on the version I have. But my current version is: Version: 3.11.4.29. It always fails my onboard memory and says it needs replaced. But there is nothing wrong with my computer's memory when I check with the F12 bios diagnostics. Plus my SupportAssist will not go past the hardware check, so the last 3 items never run. Any way around this? Thanks.

two ways around this.

(1) ignore or delete SA if PC is running perfectly fine to you.  it is a Dell AI bug that incorrectly finds error in working component.  SA is Dell bloatware to render a pseudo sophistication to the product.

(2) delete the current SA and install an old version like you intended, see if the bug goes away.  but no guarantee of success and potentially introduces new bug.

If you installed an older version, the first thing it's likely to do is update itself. So that may be part of your problem. Or, the installer saw a newer version was installed and didn't actually do anything.

You have to completely remove the existing version of SupportAssist before attempting to install it again. You can use Revo Uninstaller (free) to remove it completely.

Be sure to accept Revo's offer to set a System Restore point before it does anything. And when Revo shows you screens with "leftovers" in bold, select all of them and click Delete before going to the next screen. Do NOT delete anything Revo marks in red on those screens.

Then reboot then try to install again, if you really want it, with the caveat mentioned above about SupportAssist updating itself.

Lots of issues installing the latest SupportAssist update with Win 11 posted over in the SupportAssist forum.

You need at least Microsoft's dot-Net 5, eg v5.0.17, which you may not have...

I can't find an earlier version of SA that will install on my machine. I did find a version 2.something, but when I installed it, it actually installed the version I already had. No way to down grade to a previous version as far as I can see. So I just uninstalled it, and will leave it at that. Maybe this will be fixed in the next release.

I did all that just now, and the installer still installed the version I had previously. Dell doesn't seem to allow a SA downgrade no matter what. Worth a try. Thanks anyway.

After more than 3 days of working on this, and with the ineffective help of Dell agents, together with following various advice on the Dell website, I can say with great confidence that Dell SupportAssist does not work on Windows 11, and also, that SupportAssist causes BSOD, and also that advice offered by Dell agents and the automatic responses on the Dell website also cause BSOD.  It is time for Dell to stop leading us around the rosebush and to rework SupportAssist as a useful tool.  In the meantime, the above advice to ignore SupportAssistl by 6 Thalium is the order of the day.

Don't waste your time. Wait for a working version.
