Inspiron 3670, want to update PC Intel graphic driver, unable to?

*I asked this question on the Intel forum, and was told to ask it here instead*

I have an Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 driver and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 driver. I have been trying to update these drivers for a few months now (I'm unsure if the NVIDIA one needs updating), one because of the DCH update, and two because my PC seems to be unable to run the games I want to play (Kurtzpel and Paladins, for example).

I have tried to update the Intel driver off of Intel, off of my own Windows 10 Updates, and from properties on device manager. The Intel driver is custom, however, and refuses to update. I haven't tried anything besides clicking update on properties for the NVIDIA one, and it didn't work either.

I'm not good with stuff this technical with my PC, so if any of this info doesn't help, tell me. I'm also afraid to completely uninstall the Intel graphic and manually install the updated driver because I don't have any good tech support near me, or a warranty.

The Intel graphic update that I need, according to the Intel Driver & Support Assistant:

Intel Graphics - Windows® 10 DCH Drivers
Latest version: x.x.x.7584
Installed Version: x.x.x.7262

Dunno if this info helps or not:
Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3192 MHz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
System model: Inspiron 3670
System type: x64 based PC
Version: Windows 10

My desktop (gaming motherboard) has both Intel CPU video and a separate AMD Radeon video card.  With the video card installed the Intel video is not used.  I only have the video card video.  On a Dell gaming laptop it has Intel CPU video and NVIDIA video.  On the laptop Intel is used for general PC ops and NVIDIA is used for gaming.

Thus, if its games you want, you should be using the NVIDIA video and not Intel so no need to update the Intel CPU video.  If the NVIDIA card you have will not run the games then its time for a video card upgrade.

The 3670 is consumer grade pc that is NOT a Windows Platform (UWP) based hardware running windows 10 PRO or Enterprise.

Intel is DCH drivers.

That has zero to do with Nvidia.

INTEL Graphics is not a real GPU.

Only the IRIS pro versions have dedicated ram for the GPU.

KurtzPelKurtzPel is a 3rd Person, Anime-Inspired, Action Battle Game created by KOG, the developers of Grand Chase and Elsword Online.  This is NOT SUPPORTED By dell.

GT1030 is a very basic GPU .

You would need to upgrade your power supply to the optional 365W unit and add a ZOTAC 6 gig GTX 1060.

So do I need to just find the NVIDIA driver update on their website or find and buy an entirely different card? I also currently do not have the money or space to buy a new power supply, but that might be because I don't understand GPU very well.

There's a brand new NVidia driver that supports the GT 1030 video card in your Inspiron 3670. Download it here onto your desktop. Then right-click the downloaded file and "Run as administrator". Follow the prompts to install it.

If you also want to update to the latest Intel HD Graphics driver, it's here. Download it onto your desktop and "Run as administrator".

Whether that improves your gaming, I don't know, so read: How do I check to see if my PC will run a specific game?

Can you tell me or provide a link for how to purchase the 365W power supply for my Inspiron 3670 (I5-8400, 8GB Ram, 1 TB HDD) ?

I have some experience with building/upgrading computers. Is there anything special that I need to know about installing the power supply?

Thanks for providing such great info in the forums.

@RoHe I actually use the site in that link a lot, and my system can run the games I want to play on it. They all check out for both minimum and recommended (I usually play on minimum anyways), but that's how I started trying to update my drivers--that site says the GeForce one is 22 months out of date [everything else checks out fine].

@SleepyLian- Then you may want to uninstall the old driver and then install the new one like I suggested above.

Or, if those games play ok now, you might just leave things alone.

Your decision....

@Josh In Southern USA  - Welcome to the forum, but next time start your own new thread since your question wasn't related to updating video drivers, even if it is the same PC model... Thanks.

@SleepyLian

You may have to uninstall the NVidia card in Device Manager, reboot and then install the driver update downloaded from the Dell site.

If you try that, manually set a System Restore point first, to be safe! Then open Device Manager and right-click the entry for your NVidia video card and select "Uninstall Device". Reboot when that's done, and then right-click the NVidia driver file you downloaded from the support page and Run as administrator.

But that new driver may -or not- improve your gaming so be sure to read the link I posted above to see if your system can actually run those games before messing around with the video drivers...

@RoHe I tried that, but the driver still won't finish installing because it says I can get it from the "standard package" on the GeForce app. I have that, but the installation/update that I got for a driver on there is slightly older and doesn't show up on Device Manager. I also tried to install the file through device manager, but it doesn't show the file for the new NVIDIA driver anywhere.

INTEL Graphics is built into CPU.

NVIDIA GPU is a card that goes in the slot.

INTEL Graphics Drivers are not related to nvidia at all.

Your game requires IRIS PRO Graphics or a REAL GPU minimum system requirements.

IRIS PRO cpus are not available ever for your model.

The NVIDIA GT1030 card  runs many games and does not require upgraded power supply.

If you want to run at HIGH Settings you must upgrade the power supply and the video card to SPECIFC GTX 1060 GPU.
