Inspiron 3650 won't boot to cloned SSD

I have an Inspiron 3650. It has data and power for just one hard drive. I removed the stock 1TB hard disk drive and cloned it to a 1TB SSD using Easeus on another computer. That process went fine. I installed the SSD back into the Inspiron and got an error screen on boot with error code 0xc000000e. See below.

I tried to boot to a Windows USB recovery drive but I get the same error. I went into BIOS and changed the boot drive order but it didn't help.

When I reinstalled the original hard drive everything was fine again.

Is this is hardware compatibility problem?

Or just start over again and try cloning the HDD onto the new drive using Macrium Reflect (free).

Version of Windows?

Windows Boot Manager should always be first on the Boot sequence list in BIOS setup.

Is BIOS set to RAID or AHCI on the Inspiron 3650 ? Don't change the setting...

How did you create the "Windows USB recovery drive" ?

Are you plugging that USB into PC with power fully off? Then tapping F12 when you see the Dell splash screen and selecting the USB boot option when the menu opens?

Did you try clearing BIOS after installing the new SSD by removing the motherboard battery and pressing/holding power button for ~30 sec before reinstalling the battery?  BTW: Time for a fresh battery?

In addition to the thorough advice from @RoHe have a look at this post in the MS forum. It may be that the BCD is missing or corrupt, I have seen that on drives that did not clone properly, and you may have to rebuild the BCD.

Sometimes, it will be faster to perform a clean install than spending days to figure out the problem.  It's also better to have a clean, up-to-date system and drivers as it will restore like new performance.

After the new installation complete, use an adapter to copy your data to the new drive and keep old hard drive as back up.

It is first. It is shown as being on the SSD. BIOS recognizes the SSD and lists it as the first boot device.

"SATA Operation" is set to AHCI with no option to change it to anything else.

Using the instructions from Microsoft https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-recovery-drive-abb4691b-5324-6d4a-8766-73fab304c246#WindowsVersion=Windows_10

Yes

I tried that and replaced with a fresh battery. Other than having to set the date and time I got the same result.

This is the next thing I tried and the machine booted up beautifully. It asked me a few annoying Windows setup questions (trying to make Edge the default browser) but otherwise went perfectly. Thanks for pointing me to Macrium which I had not heard of.

@6StringJazzer  Glad Macrium worked for you!

I am a bit confused by your last post. If you cloned the HDD onto the new SSD using Macrium, I wouldn't have expected Windows to nag you to  make Edge the default browser, if Windows on the HDD had already been configured to use a different default browser.

And IIRC, there have been other posts on this forum that also said Easeus failed to create a  cloned image on a new drive that could boot the PC...

I wouldn't have expected it either. There were two or three screens to get through that normally you see in a first-time install, including did I want to connect Windows to my Android phone, and something else. I skipped them all. Once that happened, it went into the normal login process and everything was just like it was with the original HDD.

I have no idea how it detected that these things should be asked.

Another in the long series of "Mysteries from Redmond"...

As long as it's working is all that matters.
