Dell Inspiron 3671 seizes up (hangs) randomly, requires power off/on to resume.

Video stops, but monitor still displays last frame, mouse pointer.visible, but does not move, PC requires power off/on.to resume.

The only ERROR messages are in the APPLICATION event log. There are 70+ of these over the past 12 months, with many different pieces of software 'failing'.

I have followed the steps in this video, up to and including applying the latest Windows patches, https://www.youtube.com/watchv=Eh0OzZZItpA, but the problem persists.

I have seen a few similar errors discussed in the forum but none of the suggestions helped.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd disable/uninstall Dell SupportAssist, Dell Update, etc. SupportAssist is causing the FirmwareTPM.exe,  TechHub, and UsbUpdate errors, which others have reported on this forum.

I'd also uninstall SmartByte which has a bad habit of making network connections perform poorly.

ensserver.exe appears to be part of EaseUS data recovery software, so disable/uninstall this one.

SDIO_x64_R746.exe is "Snappy driver installer". Did you intentionally install it or did it sneak onto your system when you downloaded/installed something else from the web?  I'd uninstall this one too.

BTW: Have you checked thoroughly for malware lately? Malwarebytes (free) is a good tool for this.

See if uninstalling/disabling those things and the malware scan can help...

This Windows Club page may help with the ntdll.dll problem. However that MMSSHOST file is McAfee and that may be the source of the problem. This page at file.net has more information. It may be worth uninstalling McAfee to find out if the problem clears up. In many instances Users have had no idea McAfee was even installed, it can happen through some very subtle occurrences.

When you uninstall McAfee, Windows should automatically activate and launch its own built-in Windows Defender (aka: Windows Security) but confirm that it's running when you reboot after uninstalling McAfee.

If you're going to uninstall McAfee, but may still want to reinstall and use it again, be sure you've set up an account at McAfee's site so you can download it for free and use it for the balance of whatever subscription you have. (Instructions are at the link below.)

The best/most complete way to uninstall McAfee is using their own removal tool (Method 2, here), rather than using Windows Add/Remove (Method 1, at that link). So I'd skip Method 1 completely and use Method 2.

Thanks for your suggestions, However, I'm not inclined to focus on McAfee as the Error log entries cover 'many different pieces of software'. I have been analysing the log entries further and found the following info. It lists the unique combimations of failing application, module and exception codes and their prevalence;

backgroundTaskHost.exe                                       KERNELBASE.dll                 0xc000027b 1
Dell.TechHub.Instrumentation.SubAgent.exe      coreclr.dll                              0xc0000005 6
Dell.TechHub.Instrumentation.SubAgent.exe      ntdll.dll                                   0xc0000409 1
ensserver.exe                                                             ucrtbase.dll                           0xc0000409 9
FirmwareTPM.exe                                                    VCRUNTIME140.dll              0xc0000005 20
googleearth.exe                                                         ntdll.dll                                   0xc0000374 11
Microsoft.Photos.exe                                               KERNELBASE.dll                   0xc000027b 1
MMSSHOST.EXE                                                       ntdll.dll                                    0xc0000409 13
SDIO_x64_R746.exe                                                  SDIO_x64_R746.exe             0xc0000005 3
SearchApp.exe                                                           ConstraintIndex.Search.dll 0xc0000005 6
SmartByteTelemetry.exe                                          KERNELBASE.dll                  0xe0434352 1
svchost.exe_EventLog                                              wevtsvc.dll                             0xc0000005 1
UsbUpdate.exe                                                          UsbUpdate.exe                      0xc0000005 20
Total 93

I have also run Memsched, Chkdsk, DISH and SFC. All showed no problems.

I also installed all the current Visual C++ versions from https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ (not sure what info suggested this could help)

I have run out of ideas. Perhaps the info above will suggest some new ones.
