Upload WIM

I'm working on my organizations imaging process. I've worked through the process of creating a dynamic image using image assist. I now have a WIM file that I can install from USB.

I heard somewhere that I can upload this WIM to Dell somewhere so that new computers we order come with that image applied. So far, I've been unable to find information on how to do this. Can anybody tell me how to get started, or if this is even really a thing?

Thanks!

Dell does offer services and tools for deploying custom images to new computers you order from them. However, the specific process and tools may vary depending on your organization's needs and the Dell services you have access to. Here's a general overview of how you can get started:

  1. Contact Dell Account Manager: If your organization regularly purchases Dell computers and you want to have custom images pre-installed on these machines, start by contacting your Dell account manager or sales representative. They can provide you with information on the services and options available to you.

  2. Dell ImageAssist: It's possible that you're already using Dell ImageAssist to create your custom WIM images. Dell ImageAssist is a tool designed to help you create, maintain, and deploy custom Windows OS images for Dell PCs. If you're using ImageAssist, you can work with Dell to upload your custom image to their system for deployment on new systems.

  3. Dell Deployment Services: Dell offers deployment services, such as Dell ProDeploy, which can include services for image deployment. These services often involve working closely with Dell's deployment experts to customize and deploy images to your new systems before they are shipped to you.

  4. Image Repository: Some organizations have access to a Dell image repository or portal where they can upload and manage custom images. You may need specific credentials or access permissions to use such a repository.

  5. Discuss Your Requirements: In your discussions with your Dell account manager or representative, be sure to specify your requirements for image deployment. You'll need to provide details about the specific image you want to deploy, the configurations you need, and the models of computers you plan to purchase.

  6. Testing and Verification: Before deploying custom images to new computers in production, it's important to thoroughly test and verify your image on a representative system to ensure that it works as expected.

  7. Documentation and Training: Be prepared to document your image creation process and any specific instructions for deploying the image. You may also need to provide training for your IT staff on how to maintain and deploy the custom image.

Keep in mind that Dell's services and tools may evolve over time, so it's important to stay in touch with your Dell representative for the most up-to-date information and assistance regarding custom image deployment for Dell computers. They can provide guidance on the specific options available to your organization and help you get started with the process.

@Biggus_Mickus - So sorry for the super delayed response; realized yesterday that community emails aren't flowing.. IT is workin' in that!

Let your sales team member know you're ready to upload the image and they'll engage their aligned Project / Engagement Manger to help you get the project setup and a link to our File Transfer Application tool.

Don't for test ‎Test your Image Assist image before uploading for new factory orders | DELL Technologies

Thanks,

Tyler
