What is the best load-balancing option to use with SUN MPXIO
On a Solaris 10 system using MPXIO connected via Fiber to Symetrix or Vmax, what load-balacing option is best? "round-robin" or a newer option "logical-block"?
Below is from a Sunsolve Doc:
A new efficient MPxIO load balancing method that improves performance for devices (FCAL) and special devices which have pre-fetch cache algorithm like Hitachi Data Systems 99x0.
The MPxIO load balancing method is available with the Sun StorEdge[TM] SAN Software 4.4

Hello,
I am looking for something pertinent for you, but have not yet come accross anything that specifically mentions the load balancing policies in regards EMC storage. Would you like to give me details of the Sunsolve document you are looking at and perhaps that will help?
Thank you,
Nollaig

Hi fletcd1
Look for "Configuring MPxIO for Symmetrix devices" in the SUN Host Connectivity guide..
EMC recommends default setting for load balancing - which is round-robin, but more review of this section is needed to configure and also ensure the "C" bit is set. However, also suggesting to parse through SUN's documentation since this is their product. There may be minimum patch levels and other information to be aware of.
If you are all set with this thread and feel it had been answered for you, please mark it as 'answered' if possible..
Thanks..
