Uptill how many lun id's(max), hosts of different OS can see the luns. Like windows host upto 255. It depends only on operating system or on HBA drivers too.

Appreciate your help.

The answer to this is a little more complicated.

It would help if you were a little more specific on the OSes you are asking about.

For example the non-leadville drivers for Sun Solaris have a limitation of 256 LUNs per target. - The leadville drivers have a limitation of 16k (16,000).

(I think I have the above the correct way round)

Hello,

As Sam said it depends on your OS and HBA driver used. There is no generic answer.

But if the OS in question is Unix based and if you would like to run a grab file (you can download the emcgrabs from ftp.emc.com/pub/emcgrab/Unix) and run it on your host in question, then apply HEAT (Host environment analysis tool) the resulting report will give you OS  levels, HBA drivers used and information that may help with your questions.

Hope this helps,
