SRDF/Timefinder error....

hi ,

i got a problem with one of server SRDF ...the srdf log file is filled with a msg saying

CRITICAL ---- server-dg replication error! Remote TimeFinder Sync has exceeded time limit of 60 minutes

i check >>>>symmir -g XXXX-dg query

And local standard & bcvs are at split state

and >>>>symrdf -g XXXX-dg -bcv query

devices are at suspend state

symmir -g XXX-dg -bcv -rdf query

the state saying INVALID ...

R E M O T E S Y M M E T R I X

Standard Device BCV Device State
-------------------------- ------------------------------------- ------------
Inv. Inv.
Logical Sym Tracks Logical Sym Tracks STD <=> BCV
-------------------------- ------------------------------------- ------------

BCV1 0034 0 BRBCV1 xxx* 0 Invalid
BCV2 0082 0 BRBCV2 xxxx * 0 Invalid

so if i run remote Timefiner with below command , will solve my problem

symmir -g XXX-dg -bcv -rdf -full establish

or is they associated with any other issues...

thank you,

-Pctech

Are you using SAR to manage both SRDF and TF ??

pctech321 could you please update this thread ? Do you still have problems with SRDF and TimeFinder ??

If you still have problems and need a fast answer to your probs, please considere opening a SR.

did u try an incremental establish before the full ?

But the invalid state is a little suspicious.

Also check your time finder options /var/symapi/config/options file to see if there is enabled value of 60 minutes

Whats SAR ?

I am facing the same issue.

Standard Device BCV Device State
-------------------------- ------------------------------------- ------------
Inv. Inv.
Logical Sym Tracks Logical Sym Tracks STD <=> BCV
-------------------------- ------------------------------------- ------------

DEV001 0XXX 0 BCV001 0YYY * 0 Invalid

Total ------- -------
Track(s) 0 0
MB(s) 0.0 0.0

and when I try to run :

symmir -g SSQLXXXXX -bcv -rdf -full establish

I get this error.

Device group 'SSQLXXXXX' does not have any remotely-associated BCV devices
that can be paired with the remote mirrors of the BCV RDF devices.

Please help me out

Can you please look for errors in symapi log and show relevant errors in symapi log ?? And could you please show the output of "symcli" command ??

Thx

SAR = Srdf/AR = SRDF Automated Replication = A mix of SRDF and Timefinder managed with a single command that takes care of handling both SRDF and TF to move your data from a box to another box. A sort of DR solution for cheapskate ;-)

I can't find something specific on your very specific message .. Could you please explain your environment ?? How many boxes are involved ?? Where are the BCVs ?? Where are you issuing the commands from ??

How many boxes are involved ?? 2 boxes .
Where are the BCVs ? The BCVs are on the same box whereas the SRDF is on the other box.
Where are you issuing the commands from ?? I am issuing from a host connected to the primary box

Looking at the previous "query" output, I can see that the BCV devices are named "BCVxxx" and not "BRBCVxxx". This usually means that the BCV devices are in the box directly connected to the controlling host.

Try removing both options (-rdf and -bcv) and issue the command again.

Some of the hypers were in Splibfrsync state and there were few physical disks which were faulted.
Later, forcefully established them and then split them
and hurray they were no longer invalid ! :)
