Hi,

I have LAPR built out from P795 and need to attach to the CLariion CX4-960.

could some one give some details what all I need to install on the Host and what settings of failover i should use.

Below are the Stuff I assumed to be correct but buy suggestion from the community.

a) run native MPIO

b) Failover mode set to 1 with arraycommpath dissabled

c) Instal NAviagent

d) NavisecCli

c) Admsnap

e) solution enabler

"EMC Host Connectivity Guide for IBM AIX" page 56:

From the FTP server, ftp.EMC.com, in
/pub/elab/aix/ODM_DEFINITIONS, download the most
recent ODM fileset. If a more recent fileset is available, use it as a
substitute.

let's take a look at README.1st:

Hello

Take a look at emc99467 for latest update about failover mode and arraycommpath.

Before installation you should create several support matrix documents at E-Lab Navigator and implement EMC recommendation for the configuration.

Home > Support > Interoperability and Product Lifecycle Information > E-Lab Interoperability Navigator

I do it in general for server, HBA, storage box and OS and read "Base Connectivity" and "Path Management Software".

After that please read Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Host Connectivity/HBAs > Installation/Configuration

"EMC Host Connectivity Guide for IBM AIX"

It has a lot of usefull information regarding installation.

Actually for I/O between CLARiiON/VNX for block box and IBM power7 server you don't need:

c) Instal NAviagent
d) NavisecCli
c) Admsnap
e) solution enabler

Best regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your Detailed Explanation. I have red the documents over Elab by adding Clariion, IBM VIO  and Also the SAN.

The Reason why I am having the ADMsnap, NAviseccli, SE on the AIX host is for the below solutions:

We will be using

a) Open Replicator to replicate data from VMax to CX.

b) EMC Replication Manager to Create snapshots and handle Filesystem mounts on the target host.

There is specific requirements why we need those binaries to be installed for the RM to work.

Also could you please tell me what exactly the ODM definitions will help on AIX if I am going to attach the AIX to the CX4. Does this only need for Vmax or it is required for Clariion. I am trying to find more details on how ODM helps and sits what layer and where we get the benefit of ODM loading on the server.

thanks

govind
