SAN aliases for tape library drives (zoning)

Hello Community,

I have a tape library with 32 drives.
Currently all drives are defined as a single alias on the SAN switch.
So this alias represents the library.

I am thinking of creating a separate alias for each drive.
This would allow me to identify each drive by its alias.

Is there anything against this?

The only disadvantage I can think of is that all 32 drive aliases would have to be added to the library in each zone.
