Navisphere can not see host.

We just recently received and setup a CX3-40, when EMC came in they help us attach 3 servers to the CLARiiON. We now have another server I am trying to get working with it but Navisphere will not see the host. The server is running Server 2003, full updated, has a Qlogic QLE2460 fibre card installed, with the approved drivers, the windows hotfix, and SANsuffer installed. The Navisphere host agent is installed on the server, along with PowerPath. The switches are able to see the HBAs that are installed, and the zones are setup. In Navisphere, I go to Tools -> Connect Host, type in the IP of the server I wish it to use, and I get the following error message.

Errors encountered while retrieving information for this host.

Please check the host ip address. Either this host is not managed or is not connected to a CLARiiON storage system.

I have been reading, and re-reading just about everything I can find but I just can't seem to figure out what is going on. My guess is that I am missing some small step some where, but I just can't seem to figure out which one it might be.

ok ..just to rule out Navisphere being funky ..right click on the array and select "Update now" ..now go back to Connectivity status ..if you still do not see your host's WWN you need to go back to zoning and double check everything, make sure zones have been added to active zoneset and that has been activated.

welcome to forums, have you had a chance to use Clariion procedure generator, it can be found here:

That was the problem, the zones where setup correctly, but where never switched to active. Once that was done, restarted the Navi agent, ran update on storeage unit, and then the new server was showing up in the Connectivity Status. Thank you very much.

I do not see it for the server I am trying to connect now, but the other ones show up.

Everything goes fine in till I get to step 37 on it, Register HBAs and verify the registration with the storage system. I can ping the server from the Cisco switches, and they pull the WWN for the fiber cards. So I don't think there is a problem with the connection from the server to the switches. I know the switches are working with the SAN since the other servers are working fine. The step, Perform post-installation diagnostics for QLogic HBAs, I can run the diagnostic tools and it comes back saying the HBAs are working correctly. All it says for registering the HBAs is to restart the agent, which I have done a few times, even rebooted the server. Is there another way to register the HBAs?

Hi, this could be part of my problem, I just got a new server, instled all the software, but dont have a regester button on the server utility.

At what ste did you need to go inot he SAN Switch, and what did you have to do there?

IM a newbie on SAN and SAN switches, but when I do IE to the IP on the SA Switch, I see two zones that are being used by the other servers, do I have to do something to put the new server into that Zone on the switch?

here is a link to my post proper
