Magic changes to the forums

Last week I was signed up for the Smarts forum on powerlink. Today I am not. Is the system telling me something that I should be paying attention to. It appears that the weekend mainance was not flaw free.

Bob,

The Favorite Forums reflect those forums for which you have a current Watch set. But if a forum in inactive for 30 days all watches are removed.

The Smarts forum fits that criteria - the last post was your own on March 30th.

Pheeww! You had me worried. :D

Hi Bob,

You should post this to Powerlink and eServices forum. Reason for that is
a) it has been said in material sent out to eServices members this forum would not be used to report new issues
b) it might be some other users are affected thus this could be warning to them or good way of checking it out if they are affected or not.

(but nevertheless, for what is worth, it is very good catch as I found some categories to be missing too after you have report it)

I've moved this thread.

But I'd like to know more about this. What exactly is happening? Do you see the Resource Management Category but not the Smarts forum?

What happens when you try this link:

I found that when I logged into the forums that my Favorite Forums list was missing my EMC Smarts link. Later in the day after checking the help. I went back and clicked on watch this forum and the link was reestablished. That was the only change I made to make it show back up.

Thank you for explaining what happened. BUT shouldn't the users master forum page carry a warning that forum links may disappear if there is no activity for 30 days. Putting this information in a FAQ is not a lot of help because most people do not read the FAQ until something is wrong, maybe. I can't be the first person to have this problem, just maybe I ask questions loudly is all. A well informed support user is usually less expensive to support.

Julie, does the same rule apply to category too? I've been missing Host Software, Infrastructure/Connectivity and Resource Management and I think they did have some traffic. I watch categories instead of forums because
a) as multiple forums might be part of one category low traffic on one forum won't get me unsubscribe due to high traffic in another forum within same category
b) I do get email notifications when new thread is posted without having favorites updated (that was one of RFEs posted last year and this is easy workaround).

The 30 day rule does apply to categories, but its pretty unusual to have 30 days of no activity in all the forums in one - even in these new areas. So I'd like to follow this up. Do you remember when these watches were last there?

No idea to be honest. Is there any log you could take a look which should show you changes to watches? Something like watch history?

If its not recent then it may have happened around the time that I was having the problem - and we fixed that problem. Let me know if it happens again.

Actually I have selected category watches after that. I'll keep an eye on that.
