Forum Posting Standards
If I search the support forum for the answer to my problem and find a thread that has information along the lines I'm looking for and I wish to continue in that thought line should I reply to that thread or post a new thread and reference the old one?
I've found that replying to a thread that already has a helpful answer mark doesn't receive the response that a new thread does. Whats the standard?
Thanks,
Erin

I think, there is no any standard - rather some disposition of forum's participants for more active answering to threads with bonus points "in the game".
Of course, if you ask new question the better way is to start new thread instead of asking it in already existing thread without bonus points available. In other hand, if you want to continue discussion of interesting topic, you can do this in more appropriate place - in existing thread.
What about my personal preference - if I see intersting discussion I'll participate in it without any time or bonus points limit. Of course, I also like answer first on new and easy questions .

I do understand the point motivation however, its almost like a video game, always go for the maximum score!! (c:

- cancel limit for bonuses (one "right" and two "helpful" answers per thread) within thread
- give right for awarding postings with bonus points not only for thread initiator but also for any thread participant.
I understand that these my ideas could be impossible from technical point of view (limitations of forums supporting software)...
