Raghu,

Your assumption is incorrect.

Only the posts where 'reply' button is clicked is locked.

If there is a new question and several responses have been made, only the posts where 'reply' was clicked becomes read-only (not just the last post).

1. Assume there is a new question
2. You respond to it.
3. I respond to it.
4. Now, end user sees three reply buttons (one from question, one from your response, one from my response). He can only click on one reply button to post his suggestion, correct ?
4 a. If userA clicks on reply button on the question, the posts made by you and me remain editable
4 b. If userA clicks on reply button on your response, my post is still editable.
4 c. If userA clicks on reply button on my response, your post remains editable.

You can only edit your post if its the last post in the thread. Once someone makes a post after your post, your post becomes read-only.

Ok Anand,
So can i conclude that only the post which was last replied is locked not all the posts which have been replied.
I mean, say there are post1, post2, post3, post4.
Now there are replies for all the posts. response1, response2, response3, response4 respectively.
Considering response4 is for post4 and this is the last response.
Only post 4 is locked and not editable but all the previous responses say response1,2,3 are editable.

IS this right?

Thanks

Well not really..The way it works is like this...Take this example:

If userA posts a questions, Johnny and Suresh respond (response 1 - Johnny and response 2 - Suresh).

Now if userA (or anyone) clicks on the reply button by response 1 and completes a post, the post made by Johnny is now locked (or read-only)..Even he cant edit it anymore.

If userA (or anyone) clicks on the reply button by response 2 and completes a post, the post made by Suresh is now locked (or read-only)..Now Suresh cant edit his own post but Johnny can continue to edit response1 (posted by him)

So, to answer your question..It depends on which reply button the end user picks & clicks.

To prove this, I clicked on the reply button on my own post..That should leave your 'thank u' post editable..Are you seeing it ?
