Optiplex 3010 - Alert! Service Mode Jumper is Set.

I have an Optiplex 3010 that displays the Alert! Service Mode Jumper is Set on every restart.  Other than this message the system is running normally.  It passes Dell Diagnostics with flying colors etc.

Here is the head scratcher... looked all over the motherboard and there is not a Service Jumper to be found anywhere.   MB Model is a E145483 MS0520 Super Socket 1155

Anyone out there run into this?  Is there a fix?  Am I blind?

What form factor, desktop, mini-tower, small form?

It might refer to the Password clear jumper, the RTC reset jumper or the Security override jumper. But I have no idea which one or what pins to use when not in Service Mode.

If it was the Security jumper, the manual says you'd get:

Alert! Security override Jumper is installed.

And for that error, the manual says:

The MFG_MODE jumper has been set and AMT Management features are disabled until it is removed.

I'll ping my Dell tech contacts, so stay tuned.

It appears you have to move the password and CMOS jumpers and make sure they're in the correct positions when you're done:

Clearing Passwords
* Remove the computer cover
* Locate the 3-pin password connector (PSWD) on the system board
* Remove the 2-pin jumper plug from pins 2 and 3 and fix it on pins 1 and 2
* Power on the system, message with prompted
* After the operating system loads, turn the computer off
* Remove 2-pin jumper plug from pins 1 and 2 and replace it on pins 2 and 3 to enable the password feature
* Replace the computer cover.
* Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on

NVRAM Reset Jumper
* Disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet
* Remove the computer cover
* Locate the 3-pin CMOS jumper (CLEAR CMOS) on the system board
* Remove the jumper plug from the CMOS jumper (CLEAR CMOS) pins 2 and 3
* Place the jumper plug on the CMOS jumper (CLEAR CMOS) pins 1 and 2 and wait ~5 seconds
* Remove the jumper plug and replace it on the CMOS jumper (CLEAR CMOS) pins 2 and 3
* Replace the computer cover.

Post back and let us know if this works...

Sorry to hear that.

Are both jumpers back on the correct pins now?

Is this a recent problem or has it always given that warning message?

If the system is under warranty, you probably should contact Dell Tech Support for a replacement motherboard.

I pinged my Dell tech contact again and will post here if I get any additional info that might help.

When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery?
