monitor wont turn on
Hello everyone, I just hooked up a Dell Dimension 4600 from adding more memory to it. And after I turn the PC on, it starts up but the monitor wont light up. I turned off the monitor and the light on the monitor by the power button went from Green to Orange..Anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi Robert,
Thank you for your reply.
Try the Self-Test Feature Check (for Dell monitors) done by removing the display cable from both the computer and monitor end. Power up the monitor and check if you get any display. Just like the "no signal" message you saw earlier, you may see a dialogue box which would indicate that the monitor is working fine.
Also, as indicated by the Quad Pack LEDs pattern on your computer, IDE initialization has failed which could be due to the reasons listed below:
For this you need to
Remove the memory sticks you have installed in your computer and then try to install them one by one to check if the memory or the memory connector is creating this issue.
Please keep us posted on the results.

Hi Robert,
If the monitor light is turning orange it indicates that the monitor is not receiving consistent power. Check the power connection to your monitor by following the steps mentioned below.
1.Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall outlet.
2.Wait 1 minute.
3.Plug the power cord into the back of the monitor, and then into a working wall outlet.
4.Press the Power button on the monitor.
5.If your monitor still does not have consistent power, replace the power cord. Often a computer power cord can be used as a monitor power cord.

I just unhooked the monitor cord from the computer and turned on the monitor and it showed up on the screen "no signal".. I just seen to try by taking the cmos battery out and turning on the pc and turn it off and then put the cmos battery back in and turn it on to see if it works..I also did the jumper over to reset passwords if there were any..I noticed on the back tho when I turned on the first time that the letters a and d were yellow and the letters b and c were green..
