Identify Memory
How can I identify the specs of the memory I have.
I have a dimension 8300 3 gig with 512 RAM. I want to get another 512 but want to be sure it is the right kind.
Thanks

This program can tell you: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php#download
Either use the 'Memory' tab, or for additional data use the 'About' tab, and select 'Memory SPD'.
FYI: Your memory is most likely dual-channel DDR SDRAM PC3200 CL=3 (2 x 256MB running at 400MHz). NOTE: The Dell BIOS is fussy about the CL rating, if you mix different CL rated memory with your existing CL=3, your memory will run at a slower speed.
If this is the case, to double your memory you'll need two sticks (patched pair) of 256MB PC3200 CL=3.
