How to remove the heatsink fan on Dell inspiron 570?

I recently bought an amd athlon x4 quad core that I want to put in my inspiron 570. I tried to unscrew the bolt the keep the heatsink fan in place but they will not come out. Does anyone know how to remove it?

Hi gavinmac20,

You may refer to the service manual of Inspiron 570. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/TZMiId.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.

the guide didnt help at all...the screws wont come out and there's no level or clamp on the side to pull up.

Hi gavinmac20,

I would suggest you to contact a local technician and get it replaced, if you are now able to do it on your own.

Please feel free to reply. I will be glad to assist further.

Maybe removing the heatsink from the motherboard will provide some clues?

That's how I've replaced fans in the past.
