How do I find a lost word document?

I spent about 5 strong hours working on a research paper. Came back the next night and could only find the paper as is was before I began the 5 hours of work. Is there a way to get it back. I checked the temp files, I've ran *.doc searches and come up with nothing. Any Ideas on finding my lost work. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS OR HELP!

Kelliher, this sounds rather grim, but you may yet find it. If your Windows OS permits, you may restore the computer to the state it was in before shutting down last night. (Me or higher) If it was saved, look in Find Files or Folders, You also should take a look in your waste basket. Good Luck! In the future, save your work every 10 minutes and when you close Word.

You shouldn't have been able to close Word WITHOUT saving first - it warns you...
