CPU fan Bios settings?

Hello,

My CPU fan recently stopped working, and I replaced it with one that hooks directly to the power supply instead of the motherboard.  Now when I boot up, it stops each time with the message "Alert!  Previous fan failure, press F1 to continue", because the motherboard fan connection is empty.  I do not see any settings in the bios or otherwise to disable the computer from searching for the fan at startup, so I'm wondering if there is any way to turn this off?  It's very annoying to have to press F1 every time I start up.

I have a Dimension 8200 with the latest bios version

Thanks!

You can't turn it off - the only way to remove the error is to replace the fan with an original Dell unit.

...And I found it!  In the Bios there is a setting called "Report Keyboard Errors".  While setting this to "off" does not stop the error message, I am no longer required to press F1 to boot into Windows.  I knew there was a way

Well surely there is software located somewhere, otherwise there would be no message.  There must be some mechanism controlling the detection of the fan.  I have a hard time accepting the idea that it can't be accessed.

I am getting ready to replace my 8200's fan since it just died. What did you replace yours with? I have discovered that method to stop the F1 issue. Has it continued working for you? Is your system still operating ok with the new fan. Thanks for any input/help. Appreciated.

Why not just give Dell a call and order a OEM replacement fan?  It would save the hassle of dealing with the error message.
