Some machines are showing with idrac-XXXXX as the name?

Howdy,

I have OME scanning a bunch of our servers and a few of them are not showing up properly.  These are all the same model, but are not the only ones that are that model.  Instead of showing the Device Name as the Windows name, they are showing idrac- .

Is there any way to find out why this is happen just for a couple servers?

Hello

I suggest checking the iDRAC to see if the OS hostname is listed properly by the iDRAC. iDRAC 8 and 9 have agent-less features that allows them to acquire OS host name without an installed agent in some scenarios, but an agent like OMSA may be required to get the OS host name.

God I hate these forums.  Type up a whole reply but it doesn't remember who I am so it got lost when it made me log in after I tried to post.

A working machine and a not working machine both have the correct System Name filled out on the main iDrac page.  Both are R430s, both have the same iDrac version.  Is there something else I can check?

Here is a thread with some suggestions by someone from our software development organization.

More information may also be in the documentation on the OME support page.
