Dell PowerEdge R620 IDRAC down

Hello,

We have a Dell PowerEdge R620 with a IDRAC FW version 2.41.40.40.
When the OS server is running, IDRAC is down and when the OS server is down, IDRAC is up
¿ Does anybody have the same problem? Could someone give us help?

Thank you very much.

Hello Jonas_Espinosa,

Can you explain a little more about: When the OS server is running, IDRAC is down?

Are you saying when the system is booted into the OS that you cannot log into the DRAC?

When did this start and was anything done on the host around the same time?

Do you have iDRAC Enterprise?

What port do you use:  Dedicated port or shared LOM?

First recommendation would be update the system firmware to latest and check results:

Can you explain a little more about: When the OS server is running, IDRAC is down?

Yes, it is. When the OS server is running, the idrac is down

Are you saying when the system is booted into the OS that you cannot log into the DRAC?

Yes, when the OS system is booted, We can't see the IDRAC, also IDRAC doesn't answer ping, it is down.
The OS is VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 20497097

Do you have iDRAC Enterprise?

No , we don't.

First recommendation would be update the system firmware to latest and check results:

Should we only update the IDRAC firmware? We haven't any addicional problem with other components.

Thank you for your help.

could you provide more details for the first question?

When the OS VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 20497097 is running, the IDRAC is completly down ( also it can't respond to ping ).
If we turn off ( shutdown ) the server , in this moment IDRAC runs and idrac respond to ping.

And yes please update all firmware.

Are you saying to update only IDRAC's firmware or we have to update the other firmware components of the server too ( bios, chipset, storage etc ).

Thank you!!

Hello Jonas_Espinosa,

Is this something that just started?

-If so what was done on the host when this started?

Since this is not an iDRAC Enterprise then you are Sharing a LOM.

-Try switching LOM to other than you are using now. If you are on LOM1 now then try LOM2

I will note you are on an un-supported OS.

You have ESXi, 6.7.0 - The R620 Supports up to VMware ESXi 6.5, ash shown here, so I can't say what the behavior will be.

I would also recommend update the firmware DRAC, BIOS and NIC.

You may have to check on NIC driver since you are on an OS that is not supported you will need to see if you find one that works.
