Discover Dell NON-IDRAC Windows Servers
I just installed openmanage enterprise and can not discover my Dell non-idrac Windows servers. I installed OpenSSH and it says that this protocol is not supported. What is the best way to discover these servers?

Hello mvftw,
That is great to see.
You would need to search for OS support for the OpenSSH.
I was able to find a couple you may or may not need.
W2K16 Install OpenSSH https://dell.to/3ek6nvp
W2K12R2 Install OpenSSH https://dell.to/3unjnpB

Hello @mvftw,
What version of OME are you running on?
Here's the various methods of discovery: https://dell.to/37MuHpx.
What product category are you trying to discover?

Hi Joey,
I have Dell servers, but the IDRAC is not configured (no lan cable connection). They are all Windows servers from 2008R2 - 2019. I have this chart and it says SSH, but that does not seem to work...

Mvftw,
The video here will walk you though the in-band discovery process, and should help you get it configured correctly.
Let me know how it goes.

Are you able to SSH successfully to any of those servers via command prompt and with the same credentials you're using in OMEnt?

Hi @mvftw
I can't think of anything that causes the issue. It should work similar to the video configuration Chris shared. You mentioned version of OpenSSH, have you tried other versions or update it to a newer one? Have you tried other versions of OME? Perhaps, have you verified that port 22 is not blocked by the server's firewall and firewall switch?

Port 22 works with Putty & SSH. I not tried anything else...This should not be this hard...

I ran it on a 2019 server that has OpenSSh pre-installed and it still came back with '========== EEMI Code: CJOB4068 ==========

Recommended actions: Enter a valid and supported protocol, and then retry the operation.

Finally made progress! It works on a 2019 server. So which version can I use on 2008 & 2012 servers. The version that I loaded is no good.

It works with Server 2012+. Will not work with Server 2008. Maybe it needs a different version. Doesn't matter, 2008 is getting retired soon...Thx!
