Shipping Frustrations - Not able to hold at a FedEx location
Dell is going to drive me crazy. I have ordered a package which they promptly shipped out from ebay. The problem starts when I called FedEx to have the package held at one of their locations. They informed me that they cannot do that. I would need to call Dell to have this capability to be allowed. After searching for a number to call (FedEx did not have a number for them), I called. After not be allowed to enter the extension on my invoice and having to call back, I was disconnected by the representative. Called back and then transferred back into the queue. Finally I talked to a person who told me they can have the package rerouted but not held. This sounded good to me since this is for a customer of mine. After having this changed I then had another door tag left by FedEx. They had no record of the package being rerouted. After three attempts they will hold it at a facility an hour away which does not work for me. I called back and talked to Sushen, a supervisor, and he told me I would need to wait for the third attempt before calling back. (Basically he does not want to help since I know FedEx will just hold it an hour away and send it back to Dell if I am not at home.) Very poor customer service!
I have been told there is fraud with people making fake ID's. This almost sounds reasonable but I can sign for the package and have them leave it on my door step. How does FedEx know this is my signature? If I wanted to steal a package this is what I would do, not go to a place where I am probably filmed and have to produce an ID with my address matching the package. I would appreciate some help from somebody who can make this happen.
As a side note I think Sushen should be demoted. Very unprofessional. Yes I am upset but this is not the way a supervisor should handle things.

By luck FedEx showed up right after I posted this. I still hope a Dell representative looks at this and fixes these problems for future users. This was very frustrating. I understand fraud happens but I think a good balance can be found to benefit the customer and prevent fraud to Dell.

Same frustration here. What is the harm and difference to Dell in holding at a Fedex shipping center a mile away, rather than the distribution center 20 miles away.
I hope the package is not just left at the door.
