Inspiron 3020 Desktop, Hyper-V support, Intel Core i7-13700

I'm in the market for a new desktop, and need one that supports Hyper-V. I'd like to know BEFORE I purchase it.

Dell Inspiron 3020 Desktop - Intel Core i7-13700

If anyone has this desktop, would you mind checking for me?

To check if your system is compatible, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.

  3. In the System Information window, scroll down to the "System Summary" section and look for the Hyper-V Requirements line. If it says "Yes", then your system is compatible.

There are two Virtualization options listed in BIOS setup for Inspiron 3020 Desktop that are enabled by default.

Intel Virtualization Technology (VT): Enables the computer to run a virtual machine monitor (VMM).

VT for Direct I/O:  Enables the computer to perform Virtualization Technology for Direct

I/O (VT-d). VT-d is an Intel method that provides virtualization for memory map I/O.

NOTE: You need Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise.  Hyper-V won't run with Windows Home.

BTW: If you buy this PC model and it doesn't have the latest BIOS installed, v1.19.0, install it as soon as you finish setting up Windows because you need this update to fix Intel's problems with 13th/14th Gen CPUs. (Other models -not only Dell PCs- with 13th/14th Gen Intel CPUs will have their own BIOS update to fix these problems.)

Follow the instructions for Updating the BIOS from BIOS Boot Menu (independent of operating system) using a (non-bootable) USB stick, which is always the safest way to update BIOS.
