Purchased S2722QC on Facebook marketplace, it's cracked

Hi all,

I bought a Dell Monitor S2722QC from a guy on Facebook marketplace. Guy claimed he'd bought it Dell refurb (which seems accurate according to the shipping labels etc on the box and just didn't have a use for it)

I made a few mistakes and ignored some red flags. I've generally had good experiences buying and selling on these platforms but the opportunity to get the S2722QC locally blindsided me and I regrettably accepted it without giving it a test.

So I get it hope, open it up and find that the LCD is cracked. I essentially bought a giant, monitor sized paperweight.

I reported everything to do with the scam to the local police, including some information I found about the scammer that he probably doesn't think I have/would be able to find.

My question is what should I do with my new paperweight? Does Dell have a recycling program? Something DIY I can do with it?

There are many scammers in on-line marketplaces.

I would keep the power cord and any cables that came with it, just in case you ever need a spare for another monitor.

Take it somewhere that it will be properly disposed of. In many places, stores such as Best Buy and Staples will accept old "tech" for proper disposal/recycling. A recycling depot may also accept electronics. And yes, Dell does have its own recycling program in some countries.

A man sold me a used Dell monitor that is broken.  Now I have a broken Dell monitor that is quite useless in its current form.

Hi, 

I don't have the invoice, the seller didn't provide it to me.  I do have the serial number etc.
