What do we mean by new Cisco switches build?

Hi all,

I have a quick question. What exactly we do when we want to build the new Cisco switch?
Could any one please explain me regarding this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand your question. I mean: Cisco itself builds the switches, we can only configure them.
Do you mean you'd like to know what to do with a brand new switch to put it in production or something ? In that case: create a VSAN to house all aliases, zones and zoneset you want to start using.

Please be a little more specific.

There is a lot of documentation on Cisco's website about installing and configuring Storage Area Networks using Cisco Fibre Channel switches.

Start with the Cisco MDS 9000 Family config guides below. These documents will cover everything you need to know to setup a SAN using Cisco switches.

Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager Quick Configuration Guide

Cisco MDS 9000 Family Cookbook for Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 3.1

AranH mentioned some really useful URL's.
I would also suggest taking a course or web based training about how to configure SAN switches and how to attach hosts and arrays to the SAN. EMC has really useful 5 day courses on this ! In fact EMC has 2 of these 5 day tracks, but the 2nd 5 days are "advanced". I can tell you, you'll be very happy with these courses (I took the old version 2 class which was only 5 days in total, but back then there was too much material to deal with, so I understand why they split it into two 5 day tracks).

The site AraH mentioned is the right one. Look for "Cisco Storage Networking Solutions".
