ok, if you want to avoid the hassle of dealing with interop modes, firmware compatibility nightmares ..enable NPIV feature on your 9222i (it's online ..simply run "npiv enable" ), and enable Access Gateway mode on Brocades. What happens is that Brocade will be come simple "pass-through" switches, they will not have domain id, name server ..nothing. Make sure 9222i and Brocade are running firmware listed in EMC support Matrix (use E-lab navigator for that)

Sorry GK but i have not connected Brocade to Cisco in "native" mode, i have smaller Brocade switches that i put in Access gateway mode so i dont' have to deal with interop hell. Cisco has a lot of documentation to help you with that

Hi dynamox,
I have to setup isl between DCX-IBM system storage SAN768B , fabric os v6.42a and cisco mds9222i switch. The cables are run and i have tried changing vsan domain id and intermode to from 1to 2,3,4 but i couldn;t get it right. i keep getting zonemergefailure or link failure in all the trials.
i also got isl between mcdata to the same cisco switch and its just working fine afte i put vsan in interopmode 1.
All these preparation are for IVR zoning between brocade vsan and mcdata vsan and vsan with vnx logins.
please advise on the above question.
tx
