CAN MDS DIRECTOR 9509 BE AT IOS 5.2 WHILE EDGE 9134 IS AT 4.7

Hi,

We have to install a pair of 8 GB edge switches for a group of new servers coming in that will be using 8GB HBA(s). Our fabric is running at 4.7b. We know we need to upgrade the entire thing, however, some of the remedial work needed for hosts to connect to edge switch upgrades will not be completed in time. The edge switches 9148 model need to be installed but can only be installed if the IOS is at 5.07 or above.

Can i upgrade only the directors in order to install the 8 gb edge pair(my line cards are already installed), and then do the rest of the edge switches during another outage time? There are many changes I need to do during the holiday week and need the 8GB edges installed.
