Brocade DCX Integration into existing fabrics (12k and 24k)

Hi,

Our current fabrics (A & B) consists of Brocade 12k & 24k and only one (1) 48k switches running at FOS version 5.0.5a, (Edge-Core-Edge) and we are trying to connect the 2 pairs of DCX, of which 1 will act as a core director and the other one will be as a host edge. The same thing will integrated into fabric B.

I am sure that the DCX cannot be downgraded to 5.x from 6.x, can you tell us the things to keep in mind?

Are there any sequential list of steps to follow? How can we merge them successfully?

Thanks in Advance.

I would suggest you look into the release notes of the FOS 6.x version you are running on your DCX. Chances are that there's a note about connecting the new switch to your older environment.

Hi,

In addition to RRR comment, there are little things to take into account, other than what can be reported in FOS release notes. Brocade 12k & 24k are no longer supported by most of the vendors... I would recommend you to upgrade 12K & 24K to their latest release (5.0.5f and 5.3.2c respectively) and connect them to the DCX; they should merge without problems.

Kind regards

Hi KNP,

In addition to what RRR and felipon have already mentioned a few things to take care would be admin domains and the security policies. It might be diffucult to find specific documentation for merging 12k/24k with the DCX, but I can look around and let you know if I find anything.

thanks.
