Issue replacing drive - SC5020
Hello all,
We have an out of warranty (by one month, waiting on replacement hardware to ship from DELL for months...) SC5020. We purchased a replacement drive from Dell. The same Dell part number we have received in the past while under warranty. I have always called in to have the disk swapped back to active. This replacement disk is a second spare with one spare currently online and active.
Replace disk wizard has not recognized a new disk after several minutes. I cannot move the disk to managed from unmanaged. No disks eligible to be added to this disk folder could be found. There is an alert on the replacement drive.
It's possible all previous swaps required some back-end process on Dell's end I was not given instruction on. Maybe the disk was not prepped correctly by Dell? If there is more info required please let me know.
I would rather not pay for a one-off support call for a SAN that is getting recycled in a month or two. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Confirmed via Dell tech that the drive was not shipped with the firmware loaded and will be replaced.

Hello adslns,
Did you specify the drive is for Compellent with Compellent firmware?
It could be the same model but does not have Compellent firmware.
Can you post picture showing full drive label?
Do you have another slot you can try in case it is a slot issue?

I did not specify beyond giving a service tag for a Compellent SAN. The parts person looked up previous service requests and got the Dell part number of 5H3XX. If more information or detail was required it certainly wasn't asked for.
I have no spare slots. The drive is in a SAN on the other side of the country in a datacenter.
I did all of those steps in the manual.
I'll give the Solve Online thing a shot.
Thank you for the response.

Do you have the case number from then, maybe that will shed some light on why it isn't working.
