Dell 3180 Chromebook Wi-Fi issues

I am dealing with some Wi-Fi connectivity issues with Dell 3180's.  They are running 74.0.3729.68 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)/Google_Kefka.7287.379.0.

There are multiple sites with these but they all seem to be fine but one.  This one particular site has the same Wi-Fi equipment and settings.  Also this site has around 150 to 200 Apple and Windows devices working without any issues.  These Chromebooks however sometimes would work and some times few would work and few would stop working.  For example tested 10 and out of 10, 8 worked fine and 2 said "No Available Network".  They also seem to be sticking to an AP from what I have found they have a roaming threshold of RSSI = -72 dBm but they seem to be sticking even at -81 until they completely drop and then reconnect.  Windows and Apple devices do not have that issue at this site.  Initially noticed from the logs that these were only preferring 2.4 GHz so I even turned off 2.4 GHz and still the same issue.

Used Google's Log Analyzer and noticed something weird few times it would show reason 4 disconnect and say incorrect preshared key however then it would eventually connect.  That does not make sense.

Are there any issues with ChromeOS 74 Beta?  I have even reported this behavior to bug.chromium.org but nothing yet.  So is it possible this may be corrupt OS or drivers or faulty WLAN hardware?

I believe these are using Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 which does not support 802.11k/v/r.

Did you ever figure this out?

We are having the same issue at all of our locations.  We have students running about 1400 HP X360 G1 EE Chromebooks and their devices are roaming just fine throughout our network.  We have just introduced just 110 Dell 3100 2in1 Chromebooks as a possible replacement of the HP X360's and we are having all kinds of roaming issues with them.  They are sticking to AP's 2 or 3 classrooms down the hall and keep getting weak signals and dropping connections.  We are running them on ChromeOS 81.0.4044.141.  We had planned to switch to Dell for the rest of our devices next year but not if we have proximity roaming issues.

Thanks!

What is the point of the previous comment given that it does not say anything at all about what the alleged fix was or involved?

What was the fix? You stated that Dell Support helped you fix your Wifi connection issue, but you did not give any details.
