Centera Compression
Hi,
Just curious to know if there is a way we can increase compression on the the Centera? I know that the file deduplication or CAS can give us 3:1 compression but anyway we can get more compression? We have a whole lot of data that we archiving to our Centera and would like to know ways to reduce the storage space it occupies.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I believe that there no other compression methods available on Centera apart from the Single Instancing option. Would let you know if there are other modes available to compress data in Centera once the data has been archived.

Centera does not have compression.
As a previous poster stated it does do single instancing.
The amount of single instancing that will occur is solely dependent on the objects that are in ingested into it

Hi
Does Centera really have compression ratio? Thought it just archives whatever it file type it receives.
What kind of compression type does it do, Is it lossless or lossy compression type?
Thanks
