Centera Cluster v 4.2.2-4445-0-0

Hello,

we use 2 Centera (primary + replica) under Easy Archive.

On the Easy Archive Server (Testsystem ! :-) ) I try to initiate a failover from primary to the secondary Centera. I want force the Easy Archive System for writing to the replica Centera.

I setted hostroutes for the IP-Addresses of the primary Centera on the Easy Archive Server, so the Easy Archive Server can't reached the primary Centera

However, I could only read from the replica . Writing was not possible.

Is the replica Centera   only readable or will it be writeable in the case of the primary Centera was shutted down

Thanks alot

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and questions can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "Centera Support Forum" which would be the most relevant for this question.

The Centera SDK failover mechanism will not fail over writes automatically; this is because sites that are not configured for bi-directional replication would end up with content that was not protected on the primary cluster.  I'm assuming you have configured your environment for bidirectional replication to cover this case.

In order to fail over writes during an extended outage of the primary you would need to stop the application, change DNS entries or the application's configuration to target the remote Centera as the primary write location and then restart the application.  Once the primary site comes back online you would need to reverse these changes.

Hope this helps,

Mike Horgan
