x17 R1, screen frequently switches to black and then back to normal

Hey,

So, as soon as I switch on my laptop, the screen will be on for a couple of seconds, switch to black for a couple of seconds and then switch back on. The laptop is also only two weeks old. It seems to be a problem with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, as I disabled the driver and the issue stops happening, however when reenabling the driver, the issue happens again.

But, I kinda need that driver enabled to play games and do other stuff with.

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated

Thanks

ElRonin0,

Dell-Rahul posted the resolution below.

I see that the screen flickering is noticed during the startup and the issue is not seen when the NVidia GPU is disabled.
Let's perform a few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue and I will do my best to get this fixed for you.

a. First, let's try clean installing the video drivers (though they are up to date)
For this, go to Device Manager > Display adapter > uninstall both Nvidia and Intel. If you get a prompt to delete the driver, check the box and proceed.
b. Once done, go to Control Panel > apps/Programs and features > Uninstall any application related to the Intel and Nvidia (please make a note of the app that you uninstall so you can reinstall it if required).
c. Restart the system and check if the same issue is noticed (now the system will have the generic version installed via Windows update).
d. If the issue persists, install the drivers (Intel and NVidia) from the support site https://dell.to/34rSEjA and check if the issue persists
e. If the issue persists, Set a different graphics mode in the BIOS:
Restart your computer and tap the F2 key (repeatedly) when the splash screen appears.
Go to the Advanced tab in the BIOS.
Disable the Enable Hybrid Graphics/Advanced Optimus (When Available) option.
Save and Exit the BIOS.
