This image is an example of where to look, your motherboard LA identity is then used to search on the internet.

The opening post did not say which m17 R3 CPU + GPU system combination is topic of this discussion. The image may not be the replacement i7 or i9 CPU core + RTX 2080 super motherboard, it was just selected at random as an example of where to look.

If you're looking for an exact replacement, use the Dell part number (5VYM9 in the photo).

The other number is just the mainboard itself;  if you want the same GPU and CPU, you need to use the more specific Dell part number (in the string starting with CN).

Hi @Ossydon  please respond to DELL-Cares asap, because Dell can exercise discretion and might send you new or refurbished replacement m17 R3, RTX 2080 Super within days.

If that does not work out, a Dell refurbished m17 R3, RTX 2080 Super with one year Dell warranty may be expedient to get you up and running within days. Refurbished Alienware Laptops - Dell Factory Outlet, etc.

Ossydon,

Reply to the private message sent to you by DELL-Cares with the private service tag number. They need to investigate the reasons behind, "The motherboard got burnt", to see if it falls under the purchased warranty.

Best course of action:  Identify the exact board you need (if you want to keep the same CPU and GPU, look near the memory slot for the part number starting with CN ...).  Then search for a replacement.  Given that a 2080 board is likely to run well over $750 -- and may be over $1,000, look for a supplier willing to offer a year's warranty.  Gambling that much on an EBay sale with a short warranty may not be wise.

If you are thinking of replacing the mainboard, have a look at the video to determine if you or a colleague have the appropriate skills. Support for Alienware m17 R3 Removing the system board

I am too looking for 17 R3 motherboard. But engineers from all service centres here told me they are nowhere available. They even consulted dell but of no use.

Most likely it got too hot in a specific area and wasn't cleaned.

Some tips:

Keep the laptop elevated off the ground.

Keep the fans at the bottom free of dust to provide clean air for the GPU and CPU.

Make sure all the laptop is wiped down properly with some anti bacterial spray (DONT SPRAY THE INSIDE OF THE LAPTOP MOTHERBOARD) and spray directly on a towel to wipe the laptop.

Use a micro fiber cloth to clean the display and if any dirty oils are on there use the anti bacterial spray and Gently wipe it.

Keep the CPU at a nice speed of 3.5Ghz.

Turn off all GPU overclocks.
