m16 R2, is it necessary to leave display up even when docked?
I just go an Alienware m16 R2. Most of the time, I'll be using it connected to an external monitor, so I prefer to just close the laptop's top/display. However, there are holes in the top of the laptop above the keyboard. Maybe not just speakers but vents? Wondering if anyone has done any temperature testing with the top open/close. Just wondering if I'm best off just leaving the top open even if I am using an external monitor.

Yes, because the honeycomb on the top side takes in air intake, and if blocked can heat the system.

Ok, thanks. I suppose another advantage of leaving the top up is to allow the camera to be used for face recognition. I do like the faster login using face recognition.
