m15 CPU at 100C and throttling

I just got an m15 laptop and opened it up to do some testing. I do 3D work, including 3D rendering, so I wanted to see CPU and GPU temperatures under load. With the fan profile set to "Performance" in the command center, the CPU hits 100C and thermal throttles during SupportAssist's hardware scan feature (within like a minute or two of the CPU hitting 100% utilization). The same applies to running a CPU stress test like XTU or AIDA. I wanted to get a better sense of a realistic workload, so I ran Blender's benchmark test (simulates big 3D renders) and hit the same issue. The top of the keyboard gets uncomfortably hot during all this.

So I guess my question, is this normal for the m15? My last laptop (Aero 15 with the same CPU and GPU) never hit 100C during load like this.

Thanks!

Specs:

I'm following up to mark this as resolved. I got in touch with support via a DM (thanks for the help!), who had me run a stress test and verified that these are within the normal bounds. I was looking at the CPU Package temp in my hardware monitor (spikes to 100 - 104C), but it's the CPU TJunction temp that I should have been watching (which stays <= 99C). I'm just going to undervolt the CPU to drop the temps a bit and call it a day.

Call Support or create a ticket. Most likely the heat sink was improperly manufactured (known issue for m15 laptops) and will need a tech to come out and swap the heat sink. They can do the remote tests to find out. Why I don't buy thin laptops. Always a problem.

That's a bummer. I was able to eke out better temps by undervolting -160mv for moderate tasks like gaming, but if I throw a CPU-based 3D render at it, it pins to 100C and throttles (spiking for a few milliseconds to 101 or 102 every once in a while).

Thanks for the tip. I'll try support, see what's up and report back.
