M17X-R2 Battery Issue

Hi I'm new to the Alienware Club and I'm wondering if this problem I am having has been solved. I am only able to use my laptop on AC support. The laptop will shut down after 15 seconds once the battery is inserted. When the computer is shut down and then inserted, I've got about 15 seconds as well even if in the BIOS settings. I've done some research and only one person had the same problem but it was unsolved. The battery is a " Li-ion type F310J  11.1V  85Wh "

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Intel Core I7 Q720 @ 1.60ghz

Hello Mario,

It could just be a bad battery. Go to this link and try the steps listed please: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?&docid=427576&~lt=print

Good luck and I hope you get it working

Have you tried a full power discharge already?

With the system disconnected from AC power and not battery installed, hold down the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Connect the AC adapter. Power on, then insert the battery. If it still shuts down, try doing the same thing except also disconnect the CMOS battery before holding down the power button for 30 to 60 seconds.

If you still have an issue after trying these steps, the next logical step would be replacement of the battery, as suggested.
