Alienware M17x, Nvidia Geforce GTX560m, problem
Hello,
I have had this problem for months now and have not been able to figure out why this is happening. Anyways, I bought a Dell monitor "Dell S2330MX Analog" and ever sense then my NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560M has not been working. I am very bad with computers so I don't even know where to began to fix this problem. All I know is I have had friends who DO know a lot about computers try to help me and not even they could figure out the problem. I am at this point willing to use Teamviewer if anyone thinks they can help. So yeah, the graphics card that is working is the default graphics card called "Intel Graphics" or this maybe the actual name "Intel Graphics and media". Here's more specific info,
Chip Type: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
DAC Type: Internal
Adapter string: Inter(R) Graphics 3000
Bios Information: Inter video BIOS
Total available graphic memory: 1696
I don't know how much of this is even helpful if any of it. I don't understand anything. All I know is I can't even play GTA IV for more then 10mins ON THE LOWEST GRAPHICS without the game crashing. I use to play Arma 2 and now I can't even play ON the LOWEST graphics. That game is the whole reason I got my laptop to began with and now I can't even play it. If anyone has any idea on what the heck could be going on, PLEASE let me know... I would LOVE to be able to play my favorite games again. Like I said above. I would really appreciate if someone would Teamviewer with me or help me in some step by step way because I'm a clueless little gamer girl. when I got this laptop I thought it would be as easy as turning it on and playing my games and now I can't even do that anymore. This computer is as good as a $300 laptop from best buy and this laptop is $3800. See why I'm so upset?
Please help.

honestly the onboard video is useless for games other then solitary or pong, hearts ect, maybe minecraft, other then that my phone has more graphics power then that
sorry :( the intel is no good , so you need to replace the discrete card. ram size indicated is ram its allocating from system and video power is used by cpu to process so slows it all down :(

i assume this is a m17X R3?
second does it list the nvidia card in bios? .. if so does it list it in control panel, or in nvidia panel ...
you can also try changing power profile to performance , also make sure adapter is plugged in and seen properly with no errors, as if its on battery it defaults to the onboard.

Pixyluna,
* Disconnect the M17x from the external monitor
* Be sure the AC adapter is plugged in
* Turn the M17x off, then on
* Open the Nvidia Control Panel by double clicking the Nvidia icon in the taskbar
* Select Manage 3D Settings
* Under the Global Settings tab, select High Performance Nvidia processor
* Click Apply
* Close the Nvidia Control Panel
* Run the Nvidia Optimus Test Tool http://dell.to/Mttqlb
