Crank it up. A piece of notepad paper should indicate which vents underneath are drawing-in air.
Yeah, I just got something like this. But mine was for the top of an Xbox-One and I instead use it on top of my large Onkyo AVR. Works great for $30. Almost too-hot-to-touch turns into luke-warm.
The reason I am asking, is I want to get one of those fan cooling notebook pads, with 2 to 5 fans on them. I was not sure if all the bottom fans where intake only the 17R3 notebook.

output should be on the side or back vent where you feel the hot air coming out.
Intake is other vent (usually on the bottom).
