Alienware 17 R2 running so hot there is a bubble that has formed on the bottom of the case

I have an Alieware 17 R2 that runs hot. I know, tell me something you don't already know.  But it literally is running so hot that it has formed a bubble on the bottom of the laptop case that is about the size of the tip of my pinkie finger. It is so hot I can not keep my hand on it for more than 3 seconds. Is there anything I can do to try and get this system to run cooler. I cannot put it on my lap because it burns my legs. Thanks for any input :)

This has happened on my 17R3.

Open the bottom lid and look at the DC/IN plug that connects to the mainboard. Has it got signs of burning or melting?

I noticed the little bubble on the bottom lid of mine and had to investigate. Turns out the DC/in connecter is reaching over 115c when the laptop is under load and is causing the cable to almost set alight.

I have contacted Alienware and am awaiting repair at the moment.

Hi,

Can you tell me what the temperatures on it are? You can run an ePSA built in diagnostic to check how warm it gets.

You can also run a SupportAssist stress test to monitor the temperatures on your video card.

We recommend updating your system BIOS and cleaning the fans on your system.

It was a faulty DC/IN cable. It was resisting too much voltage and overheating. A replacement cable fixed it and it has been fine ever since

Hi,

Did you get any feedback of what was the issue? Battery, motherboard?
